METASCHEMA PRIVACY POLICY

1. INTRODUCTION

This Privacy Policy describes how Metaschema (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our application (“Metaschema” or the “App”) that enables programmatic creation and management of Metafield Definitions for Shopify stores.

By installing, accessing, or using Metaschema, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, please do not install, access, or use our App.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

2.1 Information You Provide to Us

When you install and use Metaschema, we collect the following information:

  • Your Shopify store URL
  • Access tokens and API keys necessary to access your Shopify metafield definitions
  • JSON Schema definitions you create or modify through our App
  • Account information for user authentication

2.2 Information We Automatically Collect

When you use Metaschema, we automatically collect:

  • Usage data (features accessed, actions performed)
  • Log data (IP address, browser type, date/time of access)
  • Performance data (error logs, sync status)
  • Device information (operating system, browser version)

2.3 Information from Shopify

Through the Shopify API, we access:

  • Metafield definitions
  • Store configuration data necessary for schema synchronization

3. DATA STORAGE AND PROCESSING

3.1 Data Storage

We store your data on secure servers located in the United States. Your schema definitions are stored in our database and used to synchronize with your Shopify store.

3.2 Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as you maintain an active account with Metaschema. Upon account deletion, we will:

  • Immediately discontinue synchronization with your store
  • Retain your schema data for 30 days for potential recovery
  • Permanently delete all your data after 30 days

4. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the core functionality of Metaschema
  • Synchronize your schema definitions with your Shopify store(s)
  • Track version control and schema migrations
  • Troubleshoot issues and improve the App
  • Communicate with you about your account and the App

5. DATA SHARING AND DISCLOSURE

5.1 Service Providers

We may share your information with third-party service providers who help us operate our App, including:

  • Cloud hosting providers
  • Analytics services
  • Customer support tools

These service providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and are not permitted to use your data for any purpose other than providing services to us.

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., court orders, government requests).

5.3 Business Transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or prominent notice on our website of any change in ownership or uses of your information.

6. EXPLICIT DATA LIABILITIES

6.1 Data Accuracy and Integrity

WE DO NOT GUARANTEE the accuracy, completeness, or integrity of any data or schema definitions you create, modify, or migrate using Metaschema. You are solely responsible for:

  • Verifying the accuracy of your schema definitions
  • Testing schema versions before applying them to production environments
  • Maintaining backups of your schema definitions

6.2 Data Loss

WE ARE NOT LIABLE for any data loss, corruption, or damage that may occur as a result of:

  • Your use of Metaschema
  • Errors in schema synchronization
  • Failed migrations between schema versions
  • Conflicts between different schema versions
  • System outages or technical failures

6.3 Store Performance

WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE for any negative impacts on your Shopify store’s performance, functionality, or appearance that may result from metafield definitions created or modified through Metaschema.

6.4 Third-Party Access

WE DO NOT GUARANTEE that your data will not be accessed by unauthorized third parties despite our security measures. While we implement reasonable security measures, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

6.5 Shopify API Changes

WE ARE NOT LIABLE for any disruption in service or loss of functionality resulting from changes to the Shopify API that may affect Metaschema’s operation.

7. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

7.1 Access and Control

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we have about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Delete your personal information (subject to certain exceptions)
  • Download your schema definitions

7.2 Opt-Out

You may opt out of non-essential communications from us by following the unsubscribe instructions in our emails.

7.3 Account Deletion

You may delete your Metaschema account at any time by contacting us at metaschema-support@onstate.co.uk. Upon deletion, we will stop processing your data and remove it from our systems after the retention period specified in Section 3.2.

8. SECURITY

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE ITS ABSOLUTE SECURITY.

9. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Your information may be transferred to, and processed in, countries other than the country in which you are resident. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country. By using Metaschema, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries.

10. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Metaschema is not directed to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

11. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
